First Timers Reception

  • Opening Reception & Welcome
  • Buddy Dinners

First time attendees are encouraged to attend both the First Timers Reception and the “Buddy Dinners.” The First Timers reception, which precedes the Opening Reception, provides an opportunity for “newcomers” to meet each other, Action Network leaders and members of the CCR Board of Directors. These events provide an invaluable course in “CCR 101.” Buddy Dinners are “Dutch Treat Dinners” led by members of the Program Committee, Action Network leaders and CCR Board members at a mid-priced local restaurant. Groups will be arranged by CCR headquarters , and those who are first timers will receive invitations.

Breakout Sessions

1. Value of Collaboration
Leader: Wayne Ranbom (RC-AN)
This breakout session will highlight the value of collaborating to achieve challenging technical and business objectives. It will draw on the participants’ experiences to identify the characteristics of a R&D project or area that make it a candidate for gaining value through collaboration. In this session, we will explore different approaches to R&D collaboration and different definitions of anticipated value that are used to justify collaborations. The goal is to provide the participants with tools to identify when it is in their best interest to collaborate.

2. Collaborations for Energy Sustainability in the Chemical Industry
Leader: Larry Berliner (RI-AN)
Energy sustainability is in part improved energy efficiency and in another part moving from an oil/gas/coal-based energy economy to another sustainable one involving multiple forms of energy generation. This workshop will attempt to answer the question: “What is the role of the Department of Energy in seeding collaborations that move the nation toward energy sustainability?”
